ART NOUVEAU INSPIRED MECHANICS For Flowering
As you may have noticed…. My favorite element of design is LINE. Line is responsible for visual flow in an arrangement. So many of my techniques and mechanics involve use of linear components. Today, I’d like to share how I build a structure inspired by Art Nouveau, ready for flowering.
HEART STRUCTURE FOR FLOWERING / Creative Edge Techniques
Making a heart structure for flowering doesn’t always have to be exclusive to Valentine’s Day. In fact, a beautiful heart arrangement can be the perfect gift anytime of year! In this month's Creative Edge Techniques video, I show how I created the Heart Shaped Structures using Midollino Extenders, that were used in both my 'FLOATING FLATLAY GREEN HEART' & 'ART NOUVEAU VERTICAL GROWING HEART' designs.
SUSTAINABLE SYMPATHY / Creative Edge 'Behind the Article'
In my first article of the year, I am presenting Different Shapes of Sympathy Easel Spray and its Mechanics. The color palette I chose for this series of designs are a Split Complimentary Color Harmony of Green/Red Orange/Red Violet its tints and tones based on the brown scale. The flowers alone range from Red Orange to Red Violet and its tints & tones – Analogous Color Harmony
FLOWER TAPESTRY FREE-STEMMING MECHANICS / Creative Edge Techniques
The nature of sympathy design for funeral service is for short term viewing. The lasting quality required for these designs is similar to today’s event designs with a window of 6 to 48 hours from placement. It is exactly the same as wedding flowers as well.
Free stemming requires suitable mechanics:
-Structure and/or mechanics eg. plastic pillow/egg/cage or chicken wire counterparts plus rolls
-N.B. Making chicken wire structures is quickly becoming part of new floristic design system.
The magic of Hala / Quick Tips with Hitomi Gilliam
Some designers can be intimidated by the stiff nature of Hala foliage, at times it can be difficult to use with or insert into mechanics like Chicken Wire Rolls, Holly Chapple Eggs, or even floral foam.
Well, the MAGIC of the Hala is that you can actually slice it at the edges of its centre 'V' Shape, creating a slimmer width that can be easier to work with and immediately loosening it up and showing a more beautiful curvaceous line... PLUS you end up with two extra side pieces that work similarly to Lily or Bear Grass!
